TASK FORCE ON TRANSFORMATION In the October Musings alerted you to the fact that the National Board had appointed the Task Force on Transformation. As members of this Task Force, we have gathered much material and have had three meetings via conference calls to begin the work at hand. Sister Eleanor Granger was able to be present at the November Board meeting to share the progress of the Task Force to date. Another conference call is scheduled for the end of December and we will be having a face to face meeting on January 6, 2007 in Washington DC. We wanted to share with you the statement of purpose and our method of proceeding. After our January meeting we will be asking you for specific feedback, but if there is anything you would like to communicate to us before our January meeting feel free to contact any one of us. Purpose and Goal of the Federation Task Force on Transformation At the Franciscan Federation Leadership Meeting of July 27 - 28, 2006, the Federation Council passed a motion to establish a Federation Task Force on Transformation. The purpose of this Task Force is to present to the Federation Council recommendations for critical decision making regarding the future of the Franciscan Federation. The Task Force is to engage in a process of broad consultation in preparing its recommendations. The first formal report is to be made in July 2007. The goal of the Task Force on Transformation is to study the viability of the Franciscan Federation. The Task Force is to examine the Federation’s purpose, structures, organization, vision, mission and accountability to make recommendations for a preferred future. Method of Proceeding in pursuit of this Goal 1. Gathering and Review of Information by Task Force (Statutes, Vision and Mission, Finance Reports, Membership Information, Regionalization, Structure, Leadership, Services, Committees, etc) 2. Broad consultation including but not limited to Federation Board, Federation Council, Membership 3. Study findings to prepare recommendations regarding the Federation’s future viability

regarding critical questions, models for transformation, and the future
viability of the organization.
